David Hall is no stranger to Alaska.  He served churches in Girdwood and in Chugiak as a lead pastor between 2016 and 2021.  He will not hesitate to let you know that the support of his family (Alicia, Rylyn, Zaley, and Marlowe) was integral to his success in those spaces.  During that time, they built lifelong friendships and developed a love for the people, culture, and landscape of Alaska.  David and Alicia will tell you that the indescribable beauty of the Alaskan landscape and the experience of life there brings them to a significant place of reliance and trust in God, grounded in faith.  It is in this faith and trust they have discerned the call for the family to return to Alaska and for David to join the Christian Health Associates team.

Prior to joining Christian Health Associates, David had a thriving career in the health sciences, ministry, and military service. During his tenure as a management and program analyst within the Department of Veterans Affairs, David worked with a team providing hospital efficiency modeling and comparison data used to evaluate the access and care at all VA Hospitals. He also served as an epidemiologist for the Nashville Metro Public Health Department and the Tennessee State Department of Health. As a scientist in the United States Air Force, he was involved in intelligence, program management, and ecological survey work. As previously mentioned, David was a lead pastor for Girdwood United Methodist Church and Chugiak United Methodist Church as part of the Alaska Missionary Conference. Most recently, he served as the director of Program Development and Management at West Virginia University’s Health Affairs Institute.

Hello, my friends.

It is a daunting task to be handed a mantle that has been carried so well, for so long. Christian Health Associates (CHA) was born of the faithful obedience of a man who listened to the Holy Spirit’s whispers in his heart, surrounding himself with others strong and bold enough in their faith to do the same.  It took many years for an idea cultivated in that home church living room to become the strong vehicle for health and healing that CHA is today.  Yet it has been accomplished, and all done to glorify God and grow God’s kingdom on earth, together. It will never be lost that CHA is the fruit of the obedience of Brian Green to the vision God provided him over 30 years ago.  During that time, I am quite certain that Brian, the group of steadfast founders, and the rest of the formidable team at CHA have provided many with considerable “help along the way”. I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from Brian and from others who have made the organization successful, so I may help to carry on a legacy of hope, of healing, and of restorative faith during the time of my service.

Although the task is daunting, I feel peace in understanding a calling to this service.  I am comforted that I will be surrounded by an extraordinarily talented leadership team and supported by an engaged and thoughtful advisory board.  In touring the facilities and meeting those engaged in the diversity of offerings supported by CHA, I recognized a deep attitude of care, of commitment, and of faith.  I look forward to experiencing these wonderful attributes in continued action in the days to come.  I know the mantle is being transferred in a time of strength and I am thankful for the grace in that event.

I look forward to being in Alaska with everyone soon.  While I feel the need to make the trip on motorcycle to best understand the shoes I have been asked to fill, I believe Alicia (my wife) may think differently.  I believe we will make the journey by more traditional means. We will make the move with our daughters, Rylyn, Zaley, and Marlowe this summer.  Rylyn will likely not be in Alaska long as she begins her college journey this fall.  Zaley and Marlowe are being asked to accomplish the difficult task of moving in their high school years. I cannot convey how grateful I am for their resilience, for it is not easy to move thousands of miles as teenagers. I trust that God has us in God’s hands and will bring us to our Alaska home safely.  Once there, I will integrate into the good work of CHA with the rest of the team. I am excited about this great opportunity to work with the staff and partners of CHA and to continue the model of faithful leadership that has laid the foundation for our work.

Blessings,

David Hall
